As you stroll through beautiful Akaroa, your personal guide will use the historic buildings and street artifacts to weave a rich tapestry of tales. These include the romantic role Akaroa played in the birth of New Zealand when tangata whenua, rugged whalers, French pioneers and British officials placed it centre stage.

In the event of wet weather, an indoor slide show "virtual walk" is substituted, so your activity proceeds rain or shine.
Routes are chosen and customised to suit the interests and schedule of your particular group. Some popular examples include:
1hr 30min route: Our most popular guided walk, "Discover Historic Akaroa" starts at the Main wharf and features the volcano, whale pots, French Landing site, Rue Jolie cottages and the colonial success of the Le Lievre family. The route is on flat town streets suitable for all fitness levels. A jacket and comfortable shoes are recommended.

2 hour routes: For those wanting something longer we offer options such as the "Backstreet Ramble", "French Trail" and "Garden of Graves". These walks include some bush walking and require moderate fitness and walking shoes.
